AMAZING NATURE FACTS
AMERICAN DIPPER
This is a very ordinary looking bird, but it does something no other North American songbird does. It’s never far from water because when it’s hungry it dives into fast moving water, or wades and swims with its head under water to forage for small water creatures,
WATER SKATER
The water skater is a very unusual insect. With its long legs it quickly walks on the surface of the water to catch a meal!
CLARK'S NUTCRACKER
These birds are masters at caching pinecone seeds throughout the summer and early fall to prepare for a winter food supply. They have a pouch under their tongue that enables them to carry thousands of seeds to their hiding place, up to 72 at a time. Then they remember where they have stored most of them!
